These are videos I made with Paul Gibson at ACU for our local broadcast show PAW TV. We loved the concept of two fat guys going to buffets and doing reviews, since you so rarely see a buffet review. So posted below is all four videos and commentary.

Too Fat Guys USA Buffet

So this was the first video we made, and I think the best, the concept was so pure and the freeplay music worked so well with the video.

Too Fat Guys Gary's Buffet

I love how this video looks, but we tried the running commentary and I think natural audio would have worked better. Also the "Miami Vice" stuff was just for fun because we were at the National Broadcast Society convention in Miami.

Too Fat Guys KACU

I love the concept of this video, it may be a little inside for Non-ACU people but I think the idea of a Mission Impossible suit is funny. This was shot becuase the KACU pledge drive always had a great buffet, and even though I worked at the TV station down the hall they always were awesome with me hanging out in their lobby and scamming free food.

Too Fat Guys Country Buffet

This is my least favorite of the videos but for history I posted it as well. The camera just didn't work in the insane low light of the truck stop and that is why I had to really adjust the brightness. Also it was right before the end of the year and so we just really wanted to get it done.

I'll post more stuff I worked on soon.

Post Cape Report

WOW I must say what an amazing event that Zeus Comics, Scott Kurtz , and Hero Realm put together. I got there at around 10:15am and didn’t leave until around 4:15pm. Even Shauna got to come around 2pm with Sydney who sadly wasn’t in a great mood due to lack of a nap. It was just an amazing day of meeting some of the creators I admire and also meeting some new creators that I am now a fan of.

Let me just break it down by creator.

I was so excited to meet Kazu Kibuishi I really enjoyed the first Flight Anthology and Daisy Cutter and he signed each of the issues of Daisy with a little head sketch, but I couldn’t scan those in but trust me when I say they are awesome.

Randy Millholland creator of Something Positive , was really fun meet since Shauna and I have been reading his webcomic since it first was published. He also gave Shauna and I two awesome sketches.

It was great to just talk to Robert Kirkman of a ton of Image and Marvel comics, Scott Kurtz of PVP Online, and Jason Salsbury of Pet Professional and say how much I have been enjoying their work.

Then I also got to meet Will Rodriguez of Mangled Stare and Jonathan Caustrita of a new webcomic Tiki Colada . They were really nice guys and I also got to videotape Will and Galan, a fanboard and mangled board regular who goes by KCWM, in a Chipotle burrito eating contest that I hope Will can post on his website once I get the movie to him.

Then I dropped by Cal Slayton’s table and got an Elektra sketch, I am a big fan of his work and look forward to any new material he has coming out.

Then finally I got to meet Joe and Les of Goathead Publications after hearing them on Fanboy Radio it was very cool to meet them. Les and I talked comics and Austin Books, the best comic shop in Austin, TX, and Joe drew me his version of Daredevil.

And at David Hopkins' table Brock Rizy drew me a mind blowingly cool Emily Edison Sketch

Speaking of Fanboy Radio and David Hopkins it was really fun to listen to Scott interviewing people live over the loudspeaker and when he was interviewing David I got some good footage for my video profile of Karma Inc, more on that as we get it going, and Britta was so nice saying how beautiful Sydney was and their new dog is so adorable.

All in all CAPE! was amazing and I hope becomes an annual event, I left with a lot of sketches and free comics and I thought I would end my report with a picture of me reading my free copy of “Owly: Splashin’ Around” to Sydney, gotta start her early on this comic habit.

Comic Sketch #3 David Mack - Kabuki

I have had the chance to meet David Mack at both Wizard World Texas conventions and he is one of the coolest guys in comics. This sketch, I almost hesitate to call this a sketch, it is a piece of art holds a great place in my heart because I got it at my first comic convention and it brings to mind all the great experiences I had.

I got this sketch at Wizard World Texas 2004 from Scott Kurtz of PVP fame it is my favorite character saying "Hi" to my new daughter, it is framed in Sydneys room and I hope someday she will look at it with pride. (Cue Sitcom "AWW")

Comic Sketch #1 David Finch - Foggy Nelson

One of the great things about meeting comic book artists is that they will sketches for you at conventions and in store signings. It is like getting a singer to write a song only for you or an actor giving you a private performance. I like this one because David Finch is one of my favorite artists and a really nice guy. I got this at The Comic Asylum's opening weekend festivities. Look for more sketches on this blog coming soon.

DoppelGunter

Funny story about this cat, Jon Fuller accidentally let out our black cat Gunter when we were visiting him at Thanksgiving. He could not feel worse about this no matter how many time we told him it was OK. So about three weeks ago Jon found what he thought to be Gunter and we had some friends coming to see us from Abilene, Megan May and Katie Clarkson, who brought him when they came. This cat isn’t Gunter but he is so close to him in behavior quirks that we are calling him DoppelGunter. So say hi to DoppelGunter who loves to sit in places where Sydney is supposed to be.
